[Indy Wrestling News] NWA Hollywood Announces Next TV Taping; Willie Mack to Make First TV Title Defense

The California-based independent promotion NWA Hollywood have announced that their next TV taping will take place on September 9th at their usual spot, the Glendale Studios in Glendale, CA. Along with that announcement, the promotion also took to Twitter to announce a series of matches signed for the event. They are as follows:

  • The Tribe (Navajo Warrior/Hawaiian Lion) will defend their NWA Heritage Tag Team Titles against The Happening (Joey Ryan/Johnny Goodtime)
  • Ryan Taylor will take on Shaun Ricker in a Last Man Standing match
  • Willie Mack will make his first defense of the NWA International Television Title

More will be announced soon, probably even today (I’ll update this when necessary if so). Interesting that they would hold a taping the same day as TNA’s PPV No Surrender but at least we know that “Mr. 87%” will not be in attendance on that show. I have been keeping up with NWA Hollywood off and on and I’ve enjoyed the product. I urge anyone reading this to give NWA Hollywood a chance; you can check out their show which airs locally in California on their official website (new episodes are posted every Wednesday).

[TNA News] Devon Apparently Leaving TNA This Week

Interesting news coming out of Twitter tonight (I know, shut up): Devon has apparently let loose that he’s leaving TNA after his contract is up this week. Here are the tweets in question:

I’m saying “apparently” to cover my ass just in case he ends up staying, but if you are to believe Twitter it looks like the man has made up his mind. And you know what? Good for him. He is essentially just taking up space in TNA at this point; although he’s the TV Champion, he isn’t that involved in storylines and rarely defends the title nowadays so he might as well hightail it out of there. Look for him to (hopefully) drop the belt this Thursday on Impact Wrestling and with any luck maybe the TV Title can begin to matter once again.

Are you sad Devon is leaving TNA or does it honestly not matter to you one way or another?

[Site News] ‘Pro Wrestling on Netflix’ Added to Site

No real news per say, but just a site update: I have created a “Pro Wrestling on Netflix” page on here, indexing all the pro wrestling-related content available on Netflix’s “Watch Instantly” service (from actual wrestling stuff to movies that feature wrestlers). On that page is a Netflix link as well as an Amazon Instant Video link in case you don’t subscribe to Netflix and want to still stream some pro wrestling (Amazon does charge a la carte however, just to warn you).

I know this isn’t exactly anything new, but it’s something I think is important and worth spending the time to curate. You can either click the page on the top right of this site or you can head over to the page by clicking this very phrase you are reading.

If I’ve missed anything, please email me at theprowrestlingnerd[at]live[dot]com or leave a comment below.
