[WWE News] Wrestlemania XXX Date and Location Officially Announced

wm30 logo

In a press conference held earlier in the day WWE officially announced that the 30th edition of its flagship event Wrestlemania will take place on April 7, 2014 from the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans, Louisiana. Joining Mayor Mitch Landrieu for the big announcement were Chairman Vince McMahonJohn Cena, Stephanie McMahon, Triple H, The Rock, Alberto Del Rio, The Big Show, Mark Henry, The Great Khali, Brodus ClayThe Funkadactyls, and Layla. To watch the entire conference, click the link provided earlier in the article.

Being that New Orleans has long been rumored to be the location this probably doesn’t come as much of a shock to anyone who bfrequents the bevy of news sites on the internet. But it’s still nice to finally have it be official. And much respect to the WWE for keeping the Roman numerals for the official logo; it’s going to be unfortunate when this time next year everyone is going to make the “LOL TRIPLE X MEANS PORN” joke. Be prepared.

[TV Results] WWE Raw – 12/24/2012

new-raw_600

On a special Christmas Eve edition of Raw, Alberto Del Rio cemented his face turn by running over guest host Santa Claus while new couple Dolph Ziggler and AJ Lee cuddled up and Ryback announced that his match against CM Punk for the WWE Championship on the first Raw of 2013 will be a “Tables, Ladders, and Chairs” match. That’s really all you need to know about the “storyline” stuff. Here are the match results from PWTorch.

  1. Kane defeated Cody Rhodes.
  2. Kaitlyn/Layla/Natalya/Alicia Fox defeated *WWE Divas Champion* Eve Torres/Tamina Snuka/Rosa Mendes/Aksana in a “Santa’s Little Helper” 8-women Divas tag team match (meaning they were dressed in goofy costumes so Jerry Lawler could gawk)
  3. Sheamus pinned *World Heavyweight Champion* The Big Show in a non-title “Lumberjack Match”. All the lumberjacks wore Santa hats because Christmas.
  4. Zack Ryder pinned David Otunga.
  5. *WWE I.C. Champion* Kofi Kingston/The Miz defeated *WWE U.S. Champion* Antonio Cesaro/Wade Barrett
  6. The Great Khali pinned Brad Maddox.
  7. Daniel Bryan defeated Damien Sandow by submission with the No-Lock.
  8. Santino Marella/Brodus Clay/Tyson Kidd/Justin Gabriel/Jimmy Uso/Jey Uso defeated Tensai/Heath Slater/Jinder Mahal/Drew McIntyre/Darren Young/Titus O’Neil
  9. John Cena defeated Alberto Del Rio in a “Miracle on 34th Street” match. Santa had a run in in the form of Mick Foley who deployed Mr. Socko while dressed in the red and white.

[TV Recap] WWE Raw – 12/17/2012 (The 2012 Slammy Awards)

raw-recap

Raw 12/17 Preview:

  • A lot of stories to expand on after the events at TLC 24 hours ago (results here), but the big one concerns AJ Lee‘s betrayal of John Cena, costing him his ladder match against Dolph Ziggler and robbing him of a World Heavyweight Championship opportunity. How will Cena react? And more importantly has Lee turned her attentions to Ziggler?
  • In other TLC news, The Shield were victorious in their first in-ring outing, defeating the team of Ryback and Team Hell No in a Tables, Ladders, and Chairs match. What is next on The Shield’s docket?
  • Post-TLC fall-out aside, this week’s episode will also center around the 2012 Slammy Awards. Who will come up big? Who will come up short? Will we see any long-forgotten faces?

[TV Recap] WWE Raw – 11/19/2012 (‘Survivor Series 2012’ Fallout)

Raw 11/19 Preview:

  • With his (somewhat tainted) victory last night at Survivor Series, CM Punk will officially celebrate his 365th consecutive day as WWE Champion. Given the man’s ego and the massive accomplishment, don’t be surprised if he celebrates as obnoxously and heel-ish as one would expect from the “Best in the World”.
  • The other big news item coming out of Survivor Series is the arrival of NXT standouts Dean Ambrose, Seth Rollins, and Roman Reigns who threw Ryback through the Spanish announce table, effectively costing him the WWE Championship. The question remains: was this an attack orchestrated by Paul Heyman to protect his client or was this another Brad Maddox-situation where three young guys decided to take matters in their own hands to finally get noticed? Here’s hoping we get some answers, as well as some mic time for Ambrose. And speaking of Ryback, something tells me he won’t take this screwjob lying down…
  • Now that Cena has once again been come up short in the WWE Championship hunt, it is time for him to refocus on the whole AJ Lee/Vickie Guerrero storyline, which now has an added wrinkle in the form of Tamina Snuka who attacked Lee during their segment at Survivor Series. With that and Dolph Ziggler‘s win for his team last night, the bad guy side of this feud seems to have the upper hand. Jury’s out on what the next chapter of this soap opera will be, but I bet people will be bitching about it either way (including this guy).
  • Sheamus may have defeated The Big Show last night but it was by DQ and therefore he is not the World Heavyweight Champion once again. He didn’t take so kindly to this result and proceeded to decimate Show with a series of chairshots followed by a Brogue Kick for good measure. With TLC coming up as their next PPV, it looks like we’re headed down the “C” part of that road. No, not c*nt.

Click “read more” for a full recap of this week’s “Survivor Series fall-out” edition of Raw, complete with my own thoughts/analysis/yadda yadda.
