[TV Results] WWE Raw – 12/24/2012

new-raw_600

On a special Christmas Eve edition of Raw, Alberto Del Rio cemented his face turn by running over guest host Santa Claus while new couple Dolph Ziggler and AJ Lee cuddled up and Ryback announced that his match against CM Punk for the WWE Championship on the first Raw of 2013 will be a “Tables, Ladders, and Chairs” match. That’s really all you need to know about the “storyline” stuff. Here are the match results from PWTorch.

  1. Kane defeated Cody Rhodes.
  2. Kaitlyn/Layla/Natalya/Alicia Fox defeated *WWE Divas Champion* Eve Torres/Tamina Snuka/Rosa Mendes/Aksana in a “Santa’s Little Helper” 8-women Divas tag team match (meaning they were dressed in goofy costumes so Jerry Lawler could gawk)
  3. Sheamus pinned *World Heavyweight Champion* The Big Show in a non-title “Lumberjack Match”. All the lumberjacks wore Santa hats because Christmas.
  4. Zack Ryder pinned David Otunga.
  5. *WWE I.C. Champion* Kofi Kingston/The Miz defeated *WWE U.S. Champion* Antonio Cesaro/Wade Barrett
  6. The Great Khali pinned Brad Maddox.
  7. Daniel Bryan defeated Damien Sandow by submission with the No-Lock.
  8. Santino Marella/Brodus Clay/Tyson Kidd/Justin Gabriel/Jimmy Uso/Jey Uso defeated Tensai/Heath Slater/Jinder Mahal/Drew McIntyre/Darren Young/Titus O’Neil
  9. John Cena defeated Alberto Del Rio in a “Miracle on 34th Street” match. Santa had a run in in the form of Mick Foley who deployed Mr. Socko while dressed in the red and white.

wwe superstars (Small)

Due to some pretty big real-life stuff (graduating college, yo!) I didn’t get a chance to watch this week’s WWE Superstars but here are the results from the show in case you wondering. Just assume the rest of the show was taken up by Raw recaps like usual.

Match Results:

  1. 3MB (Drew McIntyre/Jinder Mahal) defeated Tyson Kidd/Justin Gabriel.
  2. Brodus Clay pinned Michael McGillicutty.

[TV Results] WWE Main Event – 12/12/2012

WWE Main Event

Here are the results from yesterday’s edition of WWE Main Event courtesy of ProWrestling.net.

Matches:

  1. Ryback pinned Alberto Del Rio (w/ Ricardo Rodriguez) in 15:56.
  2. 3MB (Heath Slater/Jinder Mahal/Drew McIntyre) defeated Tyson Kidd/Justin Gabriel in 12:21 [Handicap Match]

Next week’s “featured match” will be Cody Rhodes taking on Kane, the man who put him out of action a month ago on this very show.

[TV Review] WWE Superstars – 11/22/2012

This week on Superstars, Zack Ryder/Santino Marella square off against 3MB and in the “main event” Darren Young is in singles action against Justin Gabriel.

Since this is a short show, check out my review of it right below. If you’re looking for a more full and detailed recap check out my coverage over at Lords of Evolution.

*****

Match #1: 3MB (Heath Slater/Jinder Mahal) [w/ Drew McIntyre] defeated Zack Ryder/Santino Marella in 8:48.

  • This was billed as a “Survivor Series pre-show rematch” but to be honest this is more like a rematch of the last 5,000 times they’ve worked together since 3MB first began. That being said the two teams do work well together and this was another decent match with the highlight being Marella showing off some of his actual wrestling talent in the midst of his normal comedy routine. The guy has way more talent than any of us probably realize. Also as a side note, I think McIntyre might be the highlight of 3MB; he’s really taken a shine to the gimmick and is outshining even Slater at this point on presence alone. (C+)

Main Event: Justin Gabriel [w/ Tyson Kidd] pinned Darren Young [w/ Titus O’Neil] in 9:08.

  • Considering that last week’s Superstars main event was The Great Khali Vs. JTGI automatically consider this an upgrade (I also didn’t watch last week but I can assume it was pretty terrible because, seriously, The Great Khali). This turned out to be a pretty decent singles match that was given a good amount of TV time thanks to the fact WWE overlooks this show and probably doesn’t regulate it at all. O’Neil was fun acting as Young’s coach, blowing a whistle and yelling “TOUCHDOWN!” after a particularly brutal move. And if you’ve seen Gabriel in action before you know he can bring the thunder and did so here. Even though this was a singles match and Gabriel has far more singles experience (and wins), I was still surprised to see him get the nod here; seems like The Prime Time Players are higher on the WWE food chain so I just sort of expect them to win against lower level talent no matter a singles or tag team match. But I’m not disappointed in who won at all. (B-)

Other Points of Interest:

  • Scott Stanford and Matt Striker handled commentary and yes Striker’s creepstache is still in full effect. Shudder.
  • The show featured two RAW Rebounds: the first showed the Vickie/AJ/Cena/Ziggler in-ring confrontation in its entirety and the second was a video package that highlighted CM Punk’s celebration of being WWE Champion for one year (including Ryback getting sent through a table once again by Ambrose/Rollins/Reigns).
  • No mention was made of Thanksgiving on this episode since Superstars mainly (if not exclusively) airs in foreign markets.

[TV Results] WWE Main Event – 11/21/2012

Here are the results from this week’s episode of Main Event on Ion Television. I watched the show but didn’t pay enough attention for analysis so we’re going to bare bones it like we usually do. All the more detailed stuff can be found over at ProWrestling.net thanks to Chris Shore who has a way better attention than I…ooo squirrel!

Match Results:

  1. Dolph Ziggler pinned The Miz.
  2. Wade Barrett pinned Justin Gabriel.

Segment/Storyline/Etc. Notes:

  • JBL joined Michael Cole on commentary this week since Cole’s normal co-host, The Miz, was in action.
  • Before their match, The Miz and Dolph Ziggler had a heated confrontation on the microphone. Ziggler essentially called Miz washed up while Miz hit back with accusations that Ziggler is a choke artist who always drops the ball when it matters most. Ziggler slapped Miz and the ref entered the ring, getting the match started right away.
  • After the match, Matt Striker attempted to interview Dolph Ziggler in the ring, but Ziggler grabbed the mic and shooed him away. Ziggler said that over the past week, he has proved that he is better than everyone in the locker room and warned them that he was just getting started, also throwing in an “I’m not done” towards John Cena in particular. Ziggler concluded with a catchphrase, “show…off”, which wasn’t all that spectacular.
  • Damien Sandow came out to cut a promo and conclude the show. He said that he would be challenging John Cena on next week’s episode, calling Cena the WWE’s “ultimate false idol”.
