[TNA News] Jeff Hardy Signs For Two More Years; More ‘IMPACT Wrestling’ Dates Announced

To keep the cross-pollination going between the two shows, TNA President Dixie Carter appeared on the MMA show Bellator to drop some news about TNA. First, and most important I’d argue, Carter announced that their World Champion Jeff Hardy has signed on for an additional two years locking him up and preventing him from making the jump to the WWE without having ever lost the title. A very smart move on TNA’s part to sign Hardy as he continues to be a license to print money for them, no matter how much some of us hope he loses the title soon (maybe now that the contract is signed…).

In addition to this big news, Carter also announced some new IMPACT Wrestling dates and locations. They are as follows:

  • March 28 in Jonesboro, Arkansas at the ASU Convocation Center
  • April 11 in Corpus Christi, Texas at the American Bank Center
  • June 6 in Duluth, Georgia at the Gwinnett Center

Two decent-sized news bites for Carter to break on Bellator and more importantly I’m glad the MMA fans now also get to suffer this forced co-promotion between the two.

IMPACT Wrestling makes its home in the United Kingdom for the next four weeks and TNA kicked things off with the return of Open Fight Night featuring challenges from Velvet Sky, Joseph Park, a returning (and British) TNA wrestler, and a steel cage main event between Kurt Angle and Mr. Anderson. GM Hulk Hogan also made his return to the show and Bully Ray, Brooke Hogan, Sting once again pleaded for Ray’s reinstatement. And to top it all off, two new members of The Aces and 8’s were revealed.

[TNA News] Three BFG Series Matches Announced for ‘Hardcore Justice’

Dixie Carter took to Twitter today (whoa, alliteration) to announce three BFG Series matches for the upcoming August PPV Hardcore Justice. Each of these three matches will be a 4-way dance, with the winner of each netting a cool 20 points. The matches announced are as follows:

  • A.J. Styles Vs. Christopher Daniels Vs. Kurt Angle Vs. Samoa Joe
  • James Storm Vs. Bully Ray Vs. Jeff Hardy Vs. Robbie E.
  • Rob Van Dam Vs. Mr. Anderson Vs. “The Pope” D’Angelo Dinero Vs. Magnus

Here are the current BFG Series standings (via TNA’s official site), which were last updated on July 29th (I think Ray may have won a match since then but I’m not great at keeping up with every damn result ever):

  1. Samoa Joe        47 points    (5-2)    7 MATCHES
  2. James Storm     45 points    (3-1-2)    6 MATCHES
  3. Kurt Angle         41 points     (5-3)    8 MATCHES
  4. Mr. Anderson    40 points    (5-4-1)    10 MATCHES
  5. Jeff Hardy         28 points    (4-3)    7 MATCHES
  6. Rob Van Dam   28 points     (4-2)    6 MATCHES
  7. Daniels            26 points    (4-2)    6 MATCHES
  8. Magnus           21 points     (3-5)    8 MATCHES
  9. AJ Styles        16 points    (2-2-1)    5 MATCHES
  10. The Pope        7 points    (1-4)    5 MATCHES
  11. Bully Ray        7 points    (1-3)    4 MATCHES
  12. Robbie E        5 points    (1-7)    8 MATCHES

Out of those three matches announced, Storm looks to have the 20 points “in the bag” so to speak, while Styles/Joe/Daniels/Angle will almost undoubtedly be the most fun to watch. The BFG Series has been great so far, so I wouldn’t mind if a new wrinkle got involved. The fact that all three BFG Series matches are going to be 4-way contests though seems a little bit like overkill, especially since they’re all on the same show. Seems like an easy way to quickly burn a crowd out. I hope they space them out.

Hardcore Justice, which will feature Austin Aries defending the World Heavyweight Title against Bobby Roode in the main event, airs on PPV/TNAOnDemand August 12, 2012.

[TV Recap] Impact Wrestling – 7/26/2012

Note: Unlike Raw, I will not be covering Impact Wrestling on a constant week to week basis due to real-life situations (work, school, etc.). I’ll do my best to keep it as consistent as I can but no promises. I’m also going to rework my recap style through this one as well for the 8000th time since this site opened three days ago.

On tonight’s edition of Impact Wrestling:

  • TNA president Dixie Carter names a new interim GM to replace an injured Hulk Hogan.
  • A new number one contender will be named for Zema Ion‘s X-Division Title and Ion himself will defend the belt.
  • The “Bound for Glory Series” continues with two more matches (James Storm/A.J. Styles and Kurt Angle/Bully Ray)
  • Chavo Guerrero Jr. will make his TNA debut.
  • The Aces and 8’s will undoubtedly make their presence felt once again.
  • Sam Shaw will get another chance to prove himself in the TNA Gut Check.
  • And a whole lot more!
