[TNA News] ‘IMPACT Wrestling’ 9/20/2012 Preview: Open Fight Night, Aces and 8’s, and More!

The road to Bound For Glorycontinues tonight on a live edition of IMPACT Wrestling. Here’s what you can expect on the show, courtesy of TNA’s official website.

  • Open Fight Night returns and “Cowboy” James Storm has made his intentions clear: he is going to call out Bobby Roode. Will there be an actual match, or will it quickly delve into chaos like last week?
  • The latest TNA Gut Check contestant Evan Markopoulus will enter the squared circle to prove his in-ring worth to the judges.
  • Last week, The Aces and 8’s hinted that Hulk Hogan didn’t lock them out of the Impact Zone; he locked them in. Hogan will be on-hand to respond to this threat.
  • Speaking of The Aces and 8’s, Joseph Park mentioned last week that he’s got a lead on the mystery group and this “lead” is due to show up tonight. What/who could it be?

All of this and more will go down on this week’s edition of IMPACT Wrestlinglive on SpikeTV starting at 8pm/7pm Central. You can follow along with my LIVE in-depth recap tonight over at Pro Wrestling Ponderings or wait for the overall review of the show tomorrow right on this very website. Live…or die. The choice is yours.

[TNA News] ‘IMPACT Wrestling’ to Remain Live…For The Most Part

Since going live over the summer, it’s safe to say that IMPACT Wrestling has become a far more enjoyable show. And it looks like the live broadcasts will be continuing for longer than originally anticipated…somewhat. has released a list of all the upcoming live IMPACT Wrestling events as well as the few that will be taped. Here they are for you, so I can steal some of their site hits and feel good about myself and this blog.

Upcoming LIVE IMPACT Wrestling Events:

  • September 20
  • September 27
  • October 4
  • October 11
  • October 18
  • October 25
  • November 1
  • November 8
  • November 29
  • December 6

Upcoming TAPED IMPACT Wrestling Events:

  • Monday, November 12
  • Tuesday, November 13
  • Monday, December 10
  • Tuesday, December 11

While it’s a bummer that they will be returning to taped shows at all, the amount of their live IMPACT Wrestling shows far outweighs them so it’s ultimately not a huge deal. Now to somehow expand the audience…that’s the big hurdle.

[TNA News] Aries/Hardy Set to Main Event ‘Bound For Glory 2012’

The main event for TNA’s biggest show of the year is set; by virtue of winning the BFG Series at No Surrender last night (full results here), Jeff Hardy has won the right to face TNA World Champion Austin Aries in the main event of the show. It’s an interesting and fresh match-up, not to mention a marketable one (although Bully Ray and James Storm would have equally been interesting in that spot) so all in all it’s a good and bold move. It’s certainly made me want to order the PPV.

So far this is the only match announced, but with a month and change to build the show expect many more matches to be announced. Here are a few I consider to be “good bets” on seeing next month.

  • James Storm Vs. Bobby Roode
  • Samoa Joe Vs. Magnus
  • TNA Guys Vs. The Aces and 8’s
  • Plus: The TNA Hall of Fame induction of Sting

TNA presents Bound For Glory live from the Grand Canyon University Arena in Phoenix, Arizona on October 14, 2012.

[TNA News] Updated/Final ‘No Surrender’ Card

Last night on IMPACT Wrestling, TNA did the unthinkable and actually announced some matches for their upcoming No Surrender PPV this Sunday. Here’s the updated card.

  • Bound For Glory Series Final [Winner Goes On to Face TNA World Champion at Bound For Glory 2012]
  • [BFG Series Semi-Final] James Storm Vs. Bully Ray
  • [BFG Series Semi-Final] Jeff Hardy Vs. Samoa Joe
  • Christopher Daniels/Frankie Kazarian (c) Vs. AJ Styles/Kurt Angle for the TNA World Tag Team Titles
  • Zema Ion (c) Vs. Sonjay Dutt for the TNA X-Division Title
  • Miss Tessmacher (c) Vs. Tara for the TNA Knockouts Title
  • Austin Aries Vs. The Armbreaker (Aces and 8’s member who broke his arm) in a “Fight”/Match/Whatever
  • Rob Van Dam Vs. Magnus

According to the TNA website, this is the “complete” lineup and despite the fact it was just slapped together it looks pretty solid. With the exception of Ion/Dutt (I’m glad to see the X-Division still lives though, to be honest), each match has a story to it and a purpose (even RVD/Magnus, which got slapped together in literally 10 seconds on IMPACT Wrestling) and it’ll be interesting to see who ends up winning the BFG Series and going on to main event TNA’s biggest show of the year. Also, the Aries/Armbreaker confrontation should be interesting as we could finally see a reveal of an Aces and 8’s member. Please? Pretty please?

TNA No Surrender 2012 takes place September 9th.

[TNA News] Devon Apparently Leaving TNA This Week

Interesting news coming out of Twitter tonight (I know, shut up): Devon has apparently let loose that he’s leaving TNA after his contract is up this week. Here are the tweets in question:

I’m saying “apparently” to cover my ass just in case he ends up staying, but if you are to believe Twitter it looks like the man has made up his mind. And you know what? Good for him. He is essentially just taking up space in TNA at this point; although he’s the TV Champion, he isn’t that involved in storylines and rarely defends the title nowadays so he might as well hightail it out of there. Look for him to (hopefully) drop the belt this Thursday on Impact Wrestling and with any luck maybe the TV Title can begin to matter once again.

Are you sad Devon is leaving TNA or does it honestly not matter to you one way or another?

[TNA News] ‘Impact Wrestling’ Preview for 8/23/12

TNA has released their official preview for this Thursday’s edition of Impact Wrestling and because it’s way easier to copy and paste than it is to rewrite it in my own words, here it is in its entirety…after the jump. Aw snap, suspense!
