[WWE News] Major ‘TLC’ Lineup Change; CM Punk Out, The Shield In
Well WWE has had quite the eventful day; earlier it was reported that WWE Champion CM Punk underwent emergency surgery on his left knee to remove a piece of torn meniscus that was causing it to lock up. Although reports were initially vague about the timetable of Punk’s recovery, it has now been reported that the champion will be forced to sit out TLC and his “Tables, Ladders, and Chairs” match against Ryback has been called off.
But when one door closes another door opens and a replacement match has been announced: Ryback will team with the WWE Tag Team Champions Team Hell No (Daniel Bryan/Kane) to take on none other than The Shield (Dean Ambrose/Seth Rollins/Roman Reigns). And even better, this six man tag team match will remain under “Tables, Ladders, and Chairs” rules with one exception: the match will be decided by pinfall or submission rather than normal ladder match rules. This match will mark The Shield’s wrestling debut not only for WWE proper (NXT doesn’t count, sadly) but will also be their PPV debut at the same time.
Although I was okay with Punk/Ryback III happening I think this is a much better match, at least on paper. It’s much more fresh and much more interesting, and to be honest I think this will create some extra buys for the PPV for those of us who have been clamoring and frothing at the mouth to see Ambrose, Rollins, and (I guess) Reigns finally get a chance inside a WWE ring. Good job, WWE. I may have to pawn something now to order the PPV.
TLC takes place live from the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, NY on December 16, 2012.
