[WWE News] Major Changes to ‘Survivor Series 2012’ Lineup; New Main Event, Team Punk No Longer Team Punk

Last night on Raw, seemingly out of nowhere, the lineup for next week’s PPV Survivor Seriesunderwent a major overhaul. Vince McMahon announced that instead of captaining a Survivor Series team like it was established last week, CM Punk would now be defending the WWE Championship against Ryback and John Cena in a triple threat match. However this didn’t just completely kill the “traditional” Survivor Series match like one would think; instead Team Punk became Team Ziggler as it was announced that Dolph Ziggler had been named new captain of the team which now also included Wade Barrett taking the place of The Miz who “quit” Team Punk at the start of the show. After all of this, Team Foley still has one spot to fill and one should fully expect Ryback’s replacement to be announced on next Monday’s show (along with what I hope to be more actual matches for the PPV itself). Here is the updated lineup for Survivor Series.

  • CM Punk (c) Vs. John Cena Vs. Ryback for the WWE Championship
  • Team Foley (Randy Orton/Kofi Kingston/Daniel Bryan/Kane/???) Vs. Team Ziggler (Dolph Ziggler/Wade Barrett/Alberto Del Rio/Damien Sandow/Cody Rhodes) in a “Survivor Series” match
  • The Big Show (c) Vs. Sheamus for the World Heavyweight Championship

Survivor Series takes place live from the Bankers Life Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, IN on November 18, 2012.
