Winners [via Pinfall]: The Usos (8:42)

  • A perfectly competent tag team match but it lacked in the excitement department. Nothing bad to say but nothing good to say either. Weird to see The Usos win a match again, feels like it’s been awhile. (C+)

*Commercial Break*

Raw Rebound: The AJ Lee/John Cena “scandal”.

Superstars Hype: Tyson Kidd takes on Jinder Mahal next!

*Commercial Break*

Jinder Mahal comes out for the next match accompanied by his 3MB bandmates Heath Slater and Drew McIntyre. Mahal still has the turban but is now wrestling in leather pants because he’s in a baaaaaaaaaaand, baaaabaaaaay. They get into the ring and do their air guitar routine.

  • Thoughts: 3MB is destined to go nowhere and get stale really quick but for now I’m still enjoying them and their air guitar routine.

Mahal’s opponent Tyson Kidd makes his way out next. Stanford and Matthews put over Kidd’s technical and aerial prowess.

Main Event: Tyson Kidd Vs. Jinder Mahal (w/Heath Slater and Drew McIntyre)

Kidd and Mahal trade hammerlocks, with Kidd going through the ropes and applying one around the second rope. Mahal kicks Kidd and takes him down with a side headlock. They get to their feet and Kidd sends him into the ropes. Mahal knocks him down with a shoulder block and celebrates, but is then caught with a dropkick. Mahal reverses an Irish whip but Kidd kicks him and goes to the apron. Slater walks over and distracts Kidd long enough for Mahal to get the advantage. Mahal continues stomping on Kidd as we go to commercial.

*Commercial Break*

Kidd is breaking out of a chinlock as we come back from commercial, but Mahal sends him down to the mat before he is entirely successful. Mahal hits a series of knee drops, using the ropes for added air. Gutwrench suplex by Mahal followed by a pinfall attempt. 2-count. Mahal air guitars for a second then sends Kidd hard into the corner. Mahal chokes Kidd with his knee until the ref breaks it up. Suplex by Mahal followed by a knee drop complete with goofy mannerisms. He goes for the pin. 2-count. Crevat by Mahal to wear Kidd down. Kidd fights out but Mahal catches him with a knee.

Mahal tries for a suplex but Kidd flips out and starts on an offensive flurry. Reverse spin kick by Mahal, Mahal rolls to the outside but gets caught with the running kick from the apron by Kidd. He rolls Mahal back in and goes for the pin. 2-count. Kidd runs at Mahal but gets tossed into the ropes. Mahal hits him with a running knee then locks on the Camel Clutch for the easy submission victory.

Winner [via Submission]: Jinder Mahal (5:35)

  • Entertaining match, undoubtedly due to Kidd’s ability to sell and make someone look like a million bucks. Mahal was fun to watch as well; he looks awkward as hell trying to get into the 3MB spirit but it makes his whole air guitar routine even funnier than it would be otherwise. Good win for Mahal and outside of a brief Slater distraction he did it on his own. Stanford also helped 3MB’s cause and reasoning for joining up, saying they got together because they were floundering as singles wrestlers. Simple explanation but effective, even though that doesn’t explain the whole rock band motif. (B-)

3MB unite in the ring for a post-match bow after the bell. Mahal and McIntyre then go into crazy air guitar solos on their knees while Slater rocks out. Awesome.

  • Thoughts: Can someone free up a secondary title so 3MB can run with it? What’s Kofi Kingston doing after his thing with The Miz ends?

*Commercial Break*

Raw Rebound: An extended look at the CM Punk/Sheamus lumberjack match that main evented on Monday. The Big Show chokeslams Sheamus on the apron, allowing Punk to get the victory. Ryback comes out almost immediately after the win and goes after Punk. Punk keeps trying to escape but the face lumberjacks keep throwing him back in to take more punishment. Ryback throws him over the top and onto a bunch of the heel lumberjacks then leads a “Feed me more” chant. And this concludes this week’s episode of Superstars.

Overall Show Grade: C+

  • A decent couple of matches this week with the added bonus of 3MB so that was satisfying. But yeah this show is becoming even more throwaway than it was before and with less matches to boot. I think I say that every week now. Oh well. Stop reading this whenever you want.

WWE Superstars is available on Hulu Plus every Thursday.
