[WWE News] WWE Studios and Warner Bros. Team Up for Straight to DVD ‘Scooby Doo’ Film
I hope you’re as excited to hear Shaggy exclaim “like, zoinks, John Cena” as much as I am. It was announced today that WWE Studios will be partnering up with Warner Bros. for a brand new animated Scooby Doo movie for the home market. If that isn’t a “HEH?!?” story in and of itself, it gets even better: the plot will find Scooby and his pals traveling to Wrestlemania and helping the WWE crew solve a mystery involving a “ghost bear” that threatens to ruin the show. No I’m not making this up and yes you better damn well believe I’m grinning while typing this up. A whole host of WWE personalities are expected to lend their voices, including John Cena, AJ Lee, Sin Cara (…uh…), Triple H, The Miz, Kane, Brodus Clay, Santino Marella (YES!), and…Vince McMahon himself (YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!).
But, unfortunately, this Scooby Doo movie will not be released until 2014 (most likely to help hype up Wrestlemania XXX) which may or may not impact those announced to provide voices for the movie. Wrestling is an ever-changing landscape, especially the WWE, and those on top now may be fired the next day. Those announced for the movie, however, seem to be ones that WWE is relatively sure they’re keeping around for the long haul (with the exception of maybe Sin Cara). So I’m pretty sure Santino Marella is thrilled about the job security.
I’m sure this news will piss off a lot of fans who refuse to accept that The Attitude Era is over, but I’m beyond thrilled that a movie like this is in the works. It’s just so ridiculous that it’s amazing. This is the sort of stuff I’ve been hoping to see from WWE Studios; more goofy comedic releases as opposed to deathly serious (and terrible) action films. The PG Era may be despised but WE’RE GETTING A SCOOBY DOO MOVIE WITH WWE WRESTLERS IN IT. I can’t be happier. Also I think I just heard my “Internet Wrestling Community” membership card getting shredded. Oh well.
Come on, I can’t be the only one who wants to see this, right?
