[TNA News] Final ‘Hardcore Justice 2012’ Card + Predictions
Tonight, TNA presents the 2012 edition of Hardcore Justice live from the Impact Zone in Orlando, FL. I will not be covering the event due to money (and the fact that Summerslam happens next week) but that doesn’t mean I can’t run down the card and give my thoughts/predictions for the event, right? RIGHT. Hit the jump to find out what to expect tonight.
Main Event: Austin Aries (c) Vs. Bobby Roode for the TNA World Heavyweight Championship [Loser Revokes Rematch Clause]
As great as it was to see Aries become World Champion last month at Destination X, his title run in the ensuing month has been lackluster thanks to the company’s focus on the Aces and 8’s storyline. His big rematch with Roode has barely been given any attention and although the contract signing this past Thursday on Impact Wrestling did help build it a little bit, it felt like too little too late. Couple that with the fact that Roode still looks to be headed towards a showdown with James Storm at Bound for Glory and I think Aries will end up losing the title here, most likely to a screwy finish. And it needs to happen for business reasons. But I think Aries will remain in the mix and 2013 he will once again ascend to the top.
- Prediction: Bobby Roode becomes a 2-time TNA World Heavyweight Champion
BFG Series 4-Way: AJ Styles Vs. Kurt Angle Vs. Samoa Joe Vs. Christopher Daniels [Ladder Match; Winner Receives 20 points]
Out of the three BFG Series matches signed for the show, this is the one with the most potential to steal the entire show. Featuring four of the company’s best performers all in the same match, to think that they can’t combine to create something truly special and memorable is ludicrous. Styles and Daniels will most likely cross each other out of the contest (and Claire will probably, sigh, show up and do something), leaving it between Angle and Joe. And I’m going to go out on a limb and say Joe ends up taking it.
- Prediction: Samoa Joe
BFG Series 4-Way: James Storm Vs. Bully Ray Vs. Jeff Hardy Vs. Robbie E [Tables Match; Winner Receives 20 Points]
This will be an exciting match for two reasons: 1) Tables matches are always fun to watch and 2) the Aces and 8’s made it known this past week on Impact Wrestling that Ray was their next target so there will undoubtedly be some screwy shenanigans that happen through out. With intrigue continuing to build that Storm is secretly behind the faction, it makes perfect sense for him to end up with the win thanks to their interference so I’m going to pick him as the victor. I’m also picking Hardy and Robbie E to have the spot of the match due to their bickering at the go home show.
- Prediction: James Storm
BFG Series 4-Way: Mr. Anderson Vs. “The Pope” D’Angelo Dinero Vs. Magnus Vs. Rob Van Dam [Falls Count Anywhere match; Winner Receives 20 Points]
This is undoubtedly the BFG Series match with the least amount of interest, but I still think it’ll make for a fun contest. Anderson has the highest point count right now so I don’t think he’ll end up winning, but I could see either RVD or Magnus pulling it out. I’m going to go with RVD for purely fanboy-ish reasons. Sue me.
- Prediction: Rob Van Dam
Zema Ion (c) Vs. Kenny King for the TNA X-Division Championship
TNA has certainly invested a lot in King since he made his debut last month for the company and it’s clear they are positioning him to be the future of the division; however I don’t think Hardcore Justice is the venue for this to happen. Ion will get the victory under heel-ish circumstances (hair spray again, anyone?) to keep the feud going. King will get the belt at Bound For Glory.
- Prediction: Zema Ion will retain the TNA X-Division Championship
Miss Tessmacher (c) Vs. Madison Rayne for the TNA Knockouts Championship
It all comes down to this: if Earl Hebner refs the match, Rayne will end up the champion. But part of me is hoping this doesn’t happen just to throw a wrench in the gears.
- Prediction: Madison Rayne becomes the new TNA Knockouts Champion and slobbers all over Earl Hebner while everyone vomits on each other.
Chavo Guerrero Jr./Hernandez Vs. Kid Kash/Gunner
Out of all the matches on the PPV, this one can easily be considered the “throwaway” although it still has a purpose: getting Chavo over as he slowly ascends the TNA ladder. Unless TNA is really planning to stretch this feud out, I see Guerrero/Hernandez going over rather easily but here’s another theory: maybe Hernandez turns on Chavo and causes their team to lose, thus sparking another feud. There’s no reason for it, but in the unpredictable world of wrestling, you never know. Okay it’s probably going to be the former…I’m just trying to spice this up.
- Prediction: Chavo Guerrero Jr./Hernandez
And that’s the lineup plus my half-assed and probably unreadable predictions (I’m writing this at 2 in the morning against my better judgment) for Hardcore Justice and truth be told if I could afford the PPV I would buy it in a heartbeat. Every single match on the card serves a purpose and pushes an agenda along in some form or another. Things that happen here will effect the goings on in TNA for months to come. No Ryback time filler here.
