[ROH News] Two More Teams Added to Tag Title Tournament

Earlier this week, Ring of Honor vacated their Tag Team Titles due to the loss of Kenny King (who jumped ship to TNA), and immediately set up an eight-team tournament for the belts. The first team in the tournament, The Briscoes (Jay Briscoe/Mark Briscoe) were announced that same day and now the company has announced two more teams entered into the tournament. The first of these teams is The Young Bucks (Nick Jackson/Matt Jackson), who have been challenging for the ROH Tag Team Titles for awhile now and were last seen at the Border Wars iPPV in a six man tag team match. The second team announced via ROH’s official website is BLK Out (Ruckus/Jeez), who have been killing it on the independent circuit over the past couple of years. Ruckus himself is a former ROH wrestler, while Jeez has never stepped foot in an ROH ring. With these three teams, that leaves five more open slots and expect the company to keep the announcements coming as the taping inches closer and closer.

The ROH Tag Team Title Tournament begins August 3rd.

Thoughts: I was a fan of The Young Bucks’ work in TNA under the tag team name Generation Me; they are one of the more inventive tag teams in wrestling today and are the sort of young blood the division needs. And although I’ve heard good thinks about BLK Out, I’ve never actually seen them wrestle before so I won’t pass judgment or make any comments towards them other than: welcome to ROH, please spice the tag team division up. Expect Wrestling’s Greatest Tag Team to be announced any day now; I’m surprised they weren’t one of the first, to be honest. Maybe ROH knows people are tired of them and want to get people excited for the tournament before deflating them with the addition of WGTT. I personally love Haas/Benjamin though, so I want them officially in already. I’m interested to see what other teams fill out the tournament; fingers crossed Los Ice Creams from Chikara find their way in.
